Caller Robin (?) wanted to know about Tom’s Urban….I went there on my last trip (and haven’t reviewed it). I really liked it. Thought it was a fun, friendly, casual atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating, plenty of bartop seating, great people-watching opportunities if you’re sitting outside. (Of course, this means nothing for the upcoming Mohegan Sun location.) I just wanted something light so I had the kale caesar side salad (very good) and the Colorado Calamari. I neglected to read the description of the calamari dish closely enough, and I didn’t realize it was a spicy dish. Wow, talk about heartburn afterwards. Because my mouth was on fire at that point, I decided to cool it down with a spiked milk shake – the Bacardi Coconut Chocolate shake, which was highly delicious–and also highly expensive. I probably wouldn’t order a spiked shake there again, because it really drove the cost of the meal sky high–$46 after tip for an app, a side salad and a spiked shake. Otherwise, I’d say the prices are reasonable enough for Vegas. My stomach was upset for the rest of the afternoon (I blame the spicy calamari), but that can happen anywhere. I definitely liked the place enough to go back again. I found it to be very solo-friendly. 🙂
Tim and Michele,
Thanks for the great show this week! As a long time listener, I know putting on this show was really difficult for both of you. I would have TOTALLY understood if you had skipped a week, but again, I’m reminded of your professional work ethic by listening to the podcast.
When I heard the news, I immediately thought of you; your accounts of Prince’s shows at the Rio are one of my favorite Five Hundy memories. There was no one I knew that would be more impacted, but yet you soldiered on.
Again, thanks for all you do.
Pete and Donna
Ps., Donna’s favorite Prince memory is listening to Purple Rain on a boom box in her car in high school (because it only had an AM radio! AM….what’s that??!!)
