It’s Official: Firefly Isn’t Coming Back to Plaza

Firefly

As we speculated on the podcast a few weeks ago, tasty tapas restaurant Firefly will not return when Plaza reopens later this year. In a Las Vegas Weekly article today, Steve Friess spills all of the dirt. It turns out the downtown crowd was just looking for a cheap view of Fremont Street.

The other two Firefly locations are still alive and well, and a third location is on the way. They’re a bit of a pain for us tourist shmucks who like to stick close to the Strip and Fremont Street. However, if you didn’t make it to the Plaza location during its short 18-month life, you may want to grab a cab and check one of them out.

  1. Hey Tim,

Loving the in between podcast articles that you have started posting regularly. Hopefully in a plan to fill the gap left when Steve’s blog takes a break.

Never got around to going to Firefly, though it has been on our list of eateriers to try. Just goes to show, if you want to see/experience something in Vegas don’t put it off, there is no guarantee that it will be there for your next trip.

  2. Thanks Darran.

I assure you my recent posts have nothing to do with Steve. What he does and what I do are very different. He’s an actual reporter. I just make snarky observations.

That’s the truth! Who would have thought that “Headlights and Tailpipes” would have such a short run…

  4. We managed to make it to the Plaza Firefly once last December just as they were talking about closing for renovations. The food was terrific. While it won’t be the same without the FSE view I will make it a point to grab a cab and make tapas at Firefly a “must do” the next trip.

  5. very sad. great view, great food, great sangria, reasonable prices, it was a great combo of old vegas and new vegas.

  6. Dined at Firefly on Paradise last Friday night – it rocked. Too bad the downtown area wasn’t hip to the awesomeness of this place. I HIGHLY recommend the quick cab from the Strip to eat at Firefly.
