  1. Thanks for the kind words and glad you are enjoying Lyle Stuart on Baccarat.
FYI, Lyle Stuart passed away two weeks ago on June 24th — You can access the complete obituary on NY Times (subscription required)

    a brief excerpt :
“Lyle Stuart, a renegade journalist and publisher whose picaresque life included clashes with Walter Winchell, the publication of “Naked Came the Stranger” and the decision to print “The Anarchist Cookbook,” died on Saturday at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in Englewood, N.J. He was 83 and lived in Fort Lee, N.J.”

  2. good Evening

Thanks for the great list of books referenced on the website. I am going to listen to the podcast again in case I missed some info. Very enjoyable podcast.

  3. “…and we do like to move forward”

or at least somebody in Michele’s office does 🙂

Next run of swag needs some catch-phrases like “FHBM: Moving forward to Breakfast-ez”

    Have a good trip kids!

  4. I wanted to share my coupon recommendation. I wanted to see Jubilee on our recent trip – that is the one thing I felt I missed after our first trip – I wanted to see a real old style vegas showgirl show. Anyway, I purchased the online subscription to http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com for $37 and you get a pocket book of values with great coupons. All I wanted was the 2 for 1 jubilee tickets. We saved $80 by using it on our trip. I put it up on Ebay after we returned and stated the one coupon had been used – it sold for $41.

  5. Glad I’m not the only one. But they didn’t help my clown fears by putting that scary picture at the top of the article. Yikes.

  6. Michelle, Tim was right, the FBI operation was operation g-sting, however, as I stated in my email, I am friends with several dancers, and we referred to this as operation G-String, because the men who investigated this “horrible crime”, really enjoyed their “investigation.” The FBl spent many hours and many taxpayer dollars investigating “strip clubs in Las Vegas.” And Michael Galardi was convicted. I feel so safe now. Las Vegas strip clubs are free from political corruption. I’ll still drunk dial from Club Sin.

  7. “fear and loathing in las vegas” by hunter s. thompson — not only a great and wasted description of the town in the 70s, but an important document of the loss of america…at least a certain america

the good doctor writes about a figurative looking west — how with the right eyes you can almost see the high water mark where the tide crested and rolled back out to the sea…

  8. You really do say “cooo-pons” in your neck of the woods (during American Casino Guide description).

I thought that was just something that Ron “Tater Salad” White made up on one segment of his first CD about attending a state fair in Minnesota , LOL!

Speaking of “cooo-pons” … some were worth digging out of the garbage back in the day. in the 90’s, The Klondike would mail out a free coupon sheet to locals that had drink coupons, some match play, and free meals. Literally …. free 1/2 chicken dinner or spaghetti dinner (full dinners with salad, rolls, etc) but you had to buy one soda or coffee.

90% of them ended up on the trash at the condo I owned back then, and I’d grab a stack and keep them in the car.

No one is going to mistake The Klondike (now closed, was next to the Welcome To Las Vegas sign) for Bellagio, but back when I had less cash and more time on my hands, free food was good food.

Jean Scott will still not pass up a chance to grab cooo-pons anywhere she can get them, bless her truly frugal heart!
