I think the location of the Fabulous Montecito is where McCarran Airport resides (more or less). I’m sort of happy that Nessa is off the show. As you said, she brought nothing to the table and her accent annoyed me. Of the B-list stars on the show, my favorite was Curtis Armstrong (booger). Nobody knows who he is unless you call him Booger.
The thing about the new Montecito that really bothers me is Ed’s office. It’s exactly the same set as in the old Montecito. A little too coincidental, or just too cheap to build a new set for Ed?
The Montecito wuld be south of the Tropicana and across from the Luxor. It is now empty land that the MGM/Mirage/Mandalay company owns. This map will give you a pretty good idea. The Montecito is where the “Future MGM/Mirage Project” is south of the Trop.
Ever realize that “A Little Less Conversation” is awfully verbose for a song with a message of “Shut up and do me?”
Great show.
Vegas without Lara Flynn Boyle is back to normal.
Totally. unrealistic but at least watchable. She was so bad, I think she may have driven people away never to return.
I think they move the computer graphis on purpose just to confuse us.
Michelle, your shoe comment was perfect. I laughed out loud.

Your speculation about where the TV show Las Vegas takes place reminded me of a past Las Vegas Advisor Question of the Day that asked that very question. The question was posted on 17 Nov. 2005. I can no longer access the answer because I’m not a LVA subscriber, but I believe they said the casino is based primarily on Mandalay Bay, with some segments even being shot there. I don’t remember exactly, but any LVA subscribers out there can find the answer in the LVA Question of the Day archives.
I was waiting for your PSA to be along the lines of:
“Friends don’t let friends gamble at a Harrahs owned property, unless it was originally owned by Caesars”
I use wizardofodds.com to practice my video poker, pai gow poker, and Let It Ride before heading off to Vegas. Their online games warn you if you make a wrong decision, so they’re handy for making sure you have the strategy down.
Saw my first episode of “Las Vegas” (the TV show) last night, per your recommendation. When it first aired a while ago, the previews showed James Caan as a “tough” casino owner…blah…blah…blah…
I was so wrong. Maybe the show has changed since the premier, but James Caan gives a brilliant “toungue-in cheek” performance, with some great one liners. I found last nights double episode filled with a few “black comedy” moments, like disposing of the late casino owners ashes down the toiler (classic!). I was ROFLMAO when Caan said he never say The Godfather movie (ie Sonny’s performance).
Now, I’m hooked, thanks to your podcast.
My iTunes download was only 11+ minutes long. When listening to it on my iPod yesterday it just ended abruptly. Has anyone else mentioned this? I’ll do a direct download later so that I can hear the entire episode.
Cheers!
No other reports of iTunes problems yet. I suspect it was just an isolated problem.
The Las Vegas series is terrible.
Very, very close to booking my next trip. Found a flight and a reasonable rate at BC. All that’s left is the go-ahead from the little woman…
Reply to Paulie-I have had that kind of download problem on occasion with some podcasts but never with this one.
When are you guys going back to Vegas?
We’re going President’s Day weekend.
Unfortunately, it’s probably going to be a few months for us.
Gotta unlearn everything you picked up from GA before you go back?
Tim — you mentioned that on the Las Vegas show they cut to scenes too early and you see the people standing still. They do this on purpose — I actually listened to the commentary on the Season 1 DVD. Its just something the director likes — he explained why but I forgot what it was. Something along the lines of showing things as a snapshot in time — then moving forward.
By the way — how about putting up some picture of you guys — so we can put faces with the voices we listen to every week.
We haven’t put any photos up because part of what we love so much about podcasting is the whole theater of the mind aspect.
Long time listener, first time writer here. Hate to bring up shoes, but I loved Michele’s Manolo Blahnik comment. The reason I’m bringing this up now is because I was walking through the Wynn Esplanade the other day and guess what? I saw the impossible: a sale at Manolo Blahnik! Actually, most the shops including Shoe-In, your shoegasm headquarters, had sales. Thought I’d let ya know.
